Center for the Study of Women in Society

“For 50 years, CSWS has funded feminist scholarship at the University of Oregon. Our mission is simple: we create, fund, and share research that addresses the complicated nature of gender identities and inequalities.”CSW

I am excited to have recently joined CSWS in October 2024. Here, I am working on digital design projects and social media, as well as some forthcoming special projects. In the future I will begin work on a short documentary highlighting stories of refugees from Myanmar who have come to the United States.

Creative Design: 50th Anniversary Impact Report

Year
2024-2025

For the CSWS Impact Report, I designed a visual representation of the Center’s evolution using the stages of a lily flower. This design metaphor illustrates the Center’s organic growth over the past 50 years—from its roots in feminist scholarship to its flourishing impact today.

The lily’s progression reflects key milestones, including the expansion of grants, research initiatives, and community engagement. Each stage of the flower corresponds with significant achievements, such as the establishment of the Jane Grant Fellowship, the development of Research Interest Groups (RIGs), and the launch of collaborative projects like the Women in the Northwest Initiative.

Visual Elements

  • Layered growth: The flower's stages parallel CSWS's development, visually reinforcing its history, impact, and future vision.

  • Data integration: The design incorporates charts and infographics to highlight quantitative impact—grants awarded, faculty engagement, alumni testimonials, and more.

  • Archival and event imagery: Historical photos, 50th-anniversary event images, and key figures' portraits bring CSWS's legacy to life.

  • Brand alignment: The report maintains CSWS branding, using consistent typography, colors, and logos to unify the storytelling.

  • Interactive elements: QR codes direct readers to testimonial videos, faculty Q&As, and donation opportunities, making the impact more tangible.

By weaving together organic growth and data visualization, this design captures CSWS’s legacy, influence, and vision for the future, making it compelling for evaluators, funders, and the broader community.
